IT Innovation Lab in Schools alerts schools to fraudulent Phone Call/WhatsApp message
The Digital Policy Office's "IT Innovation Lab in Schools Programme" (IT-Lab) urges teachers to stay vigilant against fraudulent calls and WhatsApp messages impersonating IT-Lab staff. These scams request schools to provide information via WhatsApp regarding funding applications.
The IT-Lab solemnly clarifies that all funding communications are strictly conducted through official channels, including Secretariat office numbers, official emails (ending with digitalpolicy.gov.hk, it-lab@digitalpolicy.gov.hk, or know-it@digitalpolicy.gov.hk), registered mail, or the designated online application system.
Schools should stay alert to suspicious phone calls or messages and not provide any personal information or transfer any fee. Anyone defrauded should contact the Police immediately. For enquiries, please call the IT Innovation Lab in Secondary Schools One-stop Support Centre at 2116 9083, or the Knowing More About IT in Primary Schools One-stop Support Centre at 2231 5977.
