Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School, a partner school of the “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, has won a Merit Award in the 22nd Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition (with photo)

Two Enriched IT Class students of Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School, a partner school of the “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, partnered with a student from another school, participated in the 22nd Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition held from 16 March to 6 June 2020 and won a Merit Award.

“INCIPE Development Kit (EDU Edition)” is an open-source, Internet of Things (IoT) development kitwhich enables learners to learn and develop skills in IoT, programming and engineering. The development kit offers various topics about programming with different sensors, e.g. temperature and humidity sensors, and each topic will have three different level of difficulties. At beginner level, learners can learn how to make use of the sensor to display the detected data and related statistics, while at advanced level, learners can acquire the skill to create a control system using the sensors.

About the Competitions

Since its launch in 1997, the Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition has had nearly 4 000 applicants from over 400 participating schools every year. Teachers and students of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools across the territory may participate in the competition. The various parts of the competition include Science Fiction Drawing, Invention, Research, Outstanding STEM Activity, Outstanding STEM Teacher and Outstanding STEM School.
