St. Paul’s Convent School, a partner school of the “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, has won the Championship and the First runner-up award in the “Innovate for Future Competition” (with photos)

Enriched IT Class students of St. Paul’s Convent School, a partner school of the “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, have won the Championship and the First runner-up award in the “Innovate for Future Competition” held on 4 January 2020.

The Champion project, “susTRAINability”, is a self-sustainable and innovative IoT solution to collect big data for analysis, which aims at improving the metro systems for greener and smarter cities. The awardees got a trophy, certificates and HK$10,000 cash prize and will showcase their project in Silicon Valley in the coming summer.

The First runner-up project is a mobile app called “ADHDreamer” which educates general public about mental health problems. The app also helps Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) patients to be integrated into an inclusive society. The awardees got a trophy, certificates and HK$8,000 cash prize.

“Innovate for Future Competition” is an open competition co-organised by the Hong Kong Electronics & Technologies Association (HKETA) and the San Jose State University Silicon Valley Center for Global Studies. It aims to inspire young secondary school students in Hong Kong to build products for solving real-life problems through generation of ideas to prototype development. This year the theme is “Society – Smarter Living, Smarter Schools, and Smarter City”.
